The board has decided to fill the vacancy by selection.
If 10% or more of eligible voters on the school roll ask the board, within 28 days of this
notice being published, to hold a by-election to fill the vacancy, then a by-election will be

Happy New Year Whanau! Hope everyone has had a great holiday. We look forward to another busy year ahead. Below is some information about our upcoming term.
Office Opening Our office will open from Monday 22nd January, 10am - 3pm (weekdays) for enrollments, uniform purchases or enquiries.
Term 1 Begins on Wednesday 31st January.
Waitangi public holiday Tuesday 6th February - School will be closed.
Uniform All students are required to have school uniform tops, this is now compulsory. Tops can be purchased from the office and are $45 each. Whānau, please make sure to name all belongings. We will not be responsible for any lost or unnamed uniforms. Any black bottoms and any shoes (as part of the uniform). We are still looking into sweatshirts which should be sorted by term 2 but if students are cold please send them with a black hoodie/jacket etc for now.
Stationery will be supplied for all students by the school this year and will be sent directly to classes.
Buses Please be sure to advise the office if you have children that need to catch the bus to and from school. We need to make sure lists are up to date.
Students classes for 2024 We will have all class lists attached to our notice board outside the office from the start of school, so students can check their class for 2024 or feel free to ask in the office.
Meet KWS staff for 2024 We will be organising a meet and greet with all staff and then whanau will have a korero with whanau teams. Date to be confirmed.
Whakawhanaungatanga Noho This will be held in week 4 term 1, Wednesday 21st February - Friday 23rd February. Junior students will stay for 1 night and senior students will stay both nights. More information to follow.

What’s Happening!
-Tēina start off with hip hop classes every Monday afternoon. Tuakana every Thursday afternoon with Angel Te Kuru.
-Tuesday 18th July: Tuakana girls soccer in Kerikeri.
-Kapa Haka practices for tēina and tuakana continue for our inter schools Facebook livestream, Te Ohonga.
-Tuesday 25th July: Mid North rugby fest (Tuakana) @ Kaikohe Rugby Club.
-Wednesday 26th July to Wednesday 13th September: Inter school Ki-o-Rahi Year 3/4 team and Year 5/6 team to represent Kaikohe West.
-Wednesday 23rd August: Ohaeawai Cross Country. All tamariki who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd will represent Kaikohe West.
Reminder Room 3 and 13 are fundraising for their class trip.

School Access:
The back gate on Orrs Rd will be open this week @ 8:15 due to traffic congestion on Tawanui Rd.
Please whānau if you can drop off and maybe pick up would be wonderful too till they have completed the wonderful job they are doing to keep us all safe.
Otherwise, entry might be the second carpark and walk through Tawaraunui gates. Please be mindful staff will be parking in that area too.
